Wallet Pop: Memo to Steven Tyler: You Can Come Back From a Disastrous Performance

January 24, 2012

“He’s not the first to screw up a lyric in America’s national anthem. Christina Aguliera did the same thing when she sang it (at the Super Bowl last year),” says Gail McInnes, owner of Magnet Creative Management, a Toronto-based publicity and brand management agency. “In this particular case, he needs to apologize right away, especially when dealing with something that is held so close to people’s hearts. He needs to be transparent about why. Was he nervous? And then say something positive about the experience and hope his fans will forgive him. He may not have gained any fans with this performance, but his real fans will forgive him.”

Quaintrella: Mentors + Bird Skull Clutch Sneak Peek

January 17, 2012

“The great news is that this Passion for Fashion program I completed has this great little middle? Aside from the cash prize competition the best part I think is the MENTORS. I now have FASHION INDUSTRY MENTORS. You have no idea how excited I am over this and I have Mentors who have experience in adding environmental value and charitable causes to their businesses. Something, I strive for. This is so great! I met most of them yesterday and I was so impressed by all these people who are just willing to help budding entrepreneurs like myself. The Fashion Tribe was there too! What a great thing.

I would like to personally thank, Gail McInnes, our lovely coordinator of PFF for doing this. Without her, this program would not exist and I wouldn’t have ever found the niche I belong in. I met lovely Mentors and had great insight into the industry. THANK YOU, GAIL! :)”

WOOT!  Check out this fabulous interview on Broken Heel Diaries with Toronto-based IT girl Gail McInnes.

Gail runs a successful marketing and event management company called Magnet Creative and in her part time, she volunteers for TFI and runs the Passion For Fashion program at Youth Employment Services.

I first met Gail a while ago when she was a teen model and just embarking on her fashion career. But it wasn’t until she starting working at TFI as my assistant that I truly got to know and love her. After leaving TFI and gaining some more industry experience, Gail joined TFI’s Resident program and launched Canada’s first styling lounge called The Style Box. Earlier this year, Gail was nominated for The Scottish Fashion Awards (she’s a native Glaswegian) which was held in conjunction with Vogue.com.

in Gail’s profile on Broken Heel Diaries she says that I’ve been her mentor and role model for the last 10 years. I’m extremely honoured and touched to think that I’ve made a difference. God willing, I hope to be a source of inspiration for Gail and others for many years to come. Thank you for the mention Gail!

Broken Heel Diaries: BHD Woman

October 31, 2011

Gail McInnes: a Glasgow-born Toronto-based entrepreneur in the fashion industry. Now if that’s not a mouthful, Gail’s 14 years of experience and numerous accolades are sure to be! Prior to launching Magnet Creative Management in 2010, a full marketing, promotions and event management company, Gail founded The Style Box in the Toronto Fashion Incubator, Canada’s first-ever Canadian designer fashion rental showroom. She’s been on every major news outlet from television spots on CTV to write-ups in the Globe and Mail and National Post.

This year Gail was nominated as “Communicator of the Year” at the Scottish Fashion Awards, in association with Vogue.com, giving her international notoriety.

When she isn’t in her office at Magnet Creative or attending Toronto’s hottest events, you’ll find Gail working away her free hours at Youth Employment Services working with youth as the Passion for Fashion program coordinator.
